About HNI ITR
A clear overview, in simple terms — what it is, why it matters, and how we handle it.
High-income returns carry surcharge on top of tax: 10% above ₹50 lakh, 15% above ₹1 crore, 25% above ₹2 crore and 37% above ₹5 crore in the old regime, with the new regime capping it at 25% and listed-equity gains capped at 15%. They usually involve several asset classes, foreign holdings and family entities, so reconciliation with AIS and Schedule FA matters as much as the computation.
For HNIs, the filing itself is the end of a year-long process: advance tax paid on time across quarters, gains timed to the right year, regime chosen with surcharge in mind, and family entities — HUFs, trusts, holding companies — kept consistent with personal returns.
We prepare the return from a full picture of your income and assets, reconcile it with AIS, report foreign assets on a calendar-year basis, claim foreign tax credit correctly, and keep a file that stands up to scrutiny.
Through the year, we plan advance tax and review large transactions before they happen.
| Surcharge (old regime) | 10% > ₹50 lakh, 15% > ₹1 crore, 25% > ₹2 crore, 37% > ₹5 crore |
|---|---|
| New regime | Surcharge capped at 25% |
| Equity capital gains | Surcharge capped at 15% |
| Foreign assets | Schedule FA on calendar-year basis; Form 67 for credit |
| Advance tax | 15% / 45% / 75% / 100% by 15 June, September, December, March |
