About Revised Return
A clear overview, in simple terms — what it is, why it matters, and how we handle it.
If you find a mistake after filing, you can file a revised return until 31 December of the assessment year — 31 December 2026 for FY 2025-26 — with no extra tax. After that, an updated return (ITR-U) can be filed within 48 months from the end of the assessment year, paying additional tax of 25%, 50%, 60% or 70% of the tax and interest depending on the delay. ITR-U can't reduce tax or increase a refund.
Common reasons to revise: interest income left out, wrong ITR form, a deduction claimed twice, capital gains missed, or Form 16 corrected by the employer. Fixing it yourself before the department notices is almost always cheaper.
We compare the filed return with AIS and your documents, identify everything that needs correcting, and file the revised return (or ITR-U) with the right tax payment.
If a notice has already arrived, the response depends on the notice — we handle that through our notice service.
