BIS Certification (ISI / CRS) — Meaning
Mandatory product certification for goods covered by Quality Control Orders.
What is BIS Certification (ISI / CRS)?
Products covered by Quality Control Orders can't be made, imported or sold in India without Bureau of Indian Standards certification. Most need the ISI mark under Scheme I, which involves factory inspection and testing; electronics and IT goods use the Compulsory Registration Scheme based on testing at a BIS-recognised lab. Foreign manufacturers apply under FMCS through an authorised Indian representative, on the Manak Online portal.
