About DPT-3 Return of Deposits
A clear overview, in simple terms — what it is, why it matters, and how we handle it.
Every company other than a government company files Form DPT-3 by 30 June each year, reporting deposits and amounts received that are not treated as deposits — such as loans from directors, advances and inter-corporate loans — outstanding as on 31 March. For FY 2025-26, the MCA allowed filing without additional fees until 31 July 2026; later filings attract additional fees.
Most private companies don't accept public deposits, but almost all have something to report: director loans (with the director's declaration that the money is their own), loans from other companies, customer advances and unsecured loans.
Where the company has actual deposits, an auditor's certificate is attached. We classify each balance correctly from the trial balance and file the return.
