About Municipal Trade Licence
A clear overview, in simple terms — what it is, why it matters, and how we handle it.
A trade licence is permission from the local municipal body to carry on a particular trade or business at a specific premises, so that it complies with safety, health and zoning rules. It is issued by the city corporation or municipality — GHMC in Hyderabad, BBMP in Bengaluru, MCD in Delhi — under the state's municipal law. Fees depend on the trade and the area of the premises, and most cities require annual renewal.
A trade licence is separate from the shop and establishment registration (a labour-law registration) and from GST. Restaurants, clinics, salons, gyms, warehouses, workshops and most shops need one; some cities exempt pure offices or charge them a nominal fee.
We check the rules for your city and trade, prepare the application with property documents and the owner's consent, follow up on inspection where required, and set renewal reminders — operating with a lapsed licence can attract penalties and sealing in some cities.
