About FSSAI Notice Reply & Inspection Support
A clear overview, in simple terms — what it is, why it matters, and how we handle it.
An FSSAI improvement notice under Section 32 of the FSS Act lists what a food business must correct and the time allowed. If the business does not comply, the Designated Officer can suspend and later cancel the licence after giving an opportunity to be heard. A timely reply with evidence of corrective action — and, for sample failures, a request for re-analysis where allowed — usually resolves the matter.
Most notices follow an inspection (hygiene, documentation, pest control, water testing) or a sample that failed lab analysis. Each type has its own timeline and remedies, so the first step is to classify the notice correctly.
For improvement notices we document the corrective action — repairs, revised procedures, training records, new test reports — and reply within the time allowed. For sample failures, the law allows the food business to seek analysis of a counterpart sample by a referral laboratory within the prescribed period.
Where a licence has been suspended, we prepare the compliance report and representation for revocation of the suspension.
| Improvement notice | Section 32, FSS Act — states the defects and the time to correct |
|---|---|
| Non-compliance | Suspension, then cancellation after a hearing |
| Operating without licence | Up to 6 months' imprisonment and ₹5 lakh fine (Section 63) |
| Sub-standard food | Penalty up to ₹5 lakh (Section 51) |
