Registrar of Companies (ROC) is a government officer under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs who is responsible for registering companies and LLPs and maintaining their statutory records. There are ROC offices in each state/region. Companies must file annual returns and financial statements with the ROC. The ROC can strike off companies that fail to file returns for two or more consecutive years. ROC registers are public records — anyone can search company filings on mca.gov.in.
