# Labour Law & HR Compliance under the Labour Codes

> India's four Labour Codes — on Wages, Industrial Relations, Social Security, and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions — took effect on 21 November 2025, replacing 29 older labour laws. Employers now work with a uniform definition of 'wages', a ₹25,000 monthly PF wage ceiling from 17 September 2026, ESIC coverage for establishments with 10 or more employees nationwide, and a single annual return.

## FAQs

### Are the new Labour Codes in force?

Yes. The major provisions of all four Labour Codes took effect on 21 November 2025, and the Social Security (Central) Rules, 2026 were notified in May 2026. States have their own rules, so some procedures differ by state.

### What is the PF wage ceiling now?

₹25,000 a month from 17 September 2026 (it was ₹15,000). The ESIC wage ceiling remains ₹21,000 a month.
