# FSSAI Licence for Restaurants & Cloud Kitchens

> Every restaurant, cloud kitchen, bakery and caterer needs FSSAI registration (turnover up to ₹1.5 crore) or a state licence (₹1.5–50 crore) for each kitchen. Food delivery platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato require the FSSAI number before listing. Restaurants also typically need a trade licence, shop and establishment registration, fire NOC and GST registration.

Restaurants and cloud kitchens are licensed per kitchen. A brand running three cloud kitchens needs three FSSAI registrations or licences, each in the name of the business operating that premises.

Food delivery aggregators display the FSSAI licence number on your listing and can delist kitchens whose licence is missing or suspended. Kitchens are also expected to meet Schedule 4 hygiene requirements, and outlets can apply for FSSAI's hygiene rating.

FSSAI is one of several approvals: a municipal trade or health licence, shop and establishment registration, fire NOC (depending on size), signage licence and GST registration are usually needed too, and liquor service needs a separate state excise licence.
